Taste of India

Hello people of earth,

Emily and I landed early this morning (India time). Our journey was tiring but fun and we made it through customs no problem. As soon as we got out of the airport I was immediately impressed by how much different India is. There is a sort of chaos that is almost indescribable. People walk around on the freeway and ride motorcycles with three passengers at a time. I also find it really interesting how mixed the city of Bangalore is economically. There is no separation between slums and nice apartment complexes. Right next to a modern skyscraper you can find shacks and crumbling buildings.

Now we are fighting jet lag and getting settled into what will be our home for the next two months. We are staying in a newly built compound next to Asha Kiran Special Needs School on the outskirts of Bangalore with Prem and Rita James. They have been very warm and inviting and Emily and I are very thankful to be able to stay with them. We already got to go into the school and meet a few of the students which was a lot of fun and really made us both excited to start working soon.

Prayers for our continued health as well as positive attitudes would be a tremendous help. We would also appreciate if you could pray for quick adaptation to the lifestyle here.

Thank you!

Love, Emily and Maria
